Govt. To Carry Out Study On Mobile Phone Hazards Soon

Anbumani_RamadossNew Delhi: The administration is planning to carry out a study to evaluate the harmful impact of excessive use of mobile phones on physical condition. Anbumani Ramadoss, the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister said, “We plan to conduct a long term study to find out the negative effects of mobile and mobile towers on users.”

Mr. Ramadoss was speaking to news persons at a function marked to promote the Indian Council of Medical Research as a department.

Dr. Ramadoss stated that he had demanded the Indian Council of Medical Research, now Department of Health Research to carry out the study.

“Mobile phones are being used by kids who often complain of headaches,” he said.

The thorough analysis would take up about 5 to 10 years to emerge with its conclusions.

Dr. Ramadoss told that the department was also planning to come out with important health guidelines for those working in BPOs and IT companies.

“It is our flagship industry and there is a fear that people will burn out soon if something soon is not done. Youth in these industries are dying at an age of 24 years of heart attack and diabetes. There are complaints of obesity, stress and even skin disease due to air-conditioning and the nature of work,” he said.

“We, along with IT Minister D. Raja, are working out a white paper that will come out with guidelines which is one way of saving this flagship industry,” he added.
