Men with long ring finger likely to suffer from prostate cancer
The latest study has revealed that men who have a long ring finger could be three times more likely to have prostate cancer.
The experiments conducted proved that men with longer ring fingers on their right hand had higher levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA), a chemical that occasionally is found in case of high levels of this type of cancer.
It was through a report laid by the researchers who stated that the "digit ratio" or the difference in length between ring and index finger is often used to forecast men who might suffer from cancer.
The researchers stated: "Digit ratio is a predictor of high PSA levels and the presence of prostate cancer. We believe our results present sufficient evidence that a relationship exists between the two," the Daily Mail reports.
According to Ed Yong, from the Cancer Research UK, head of health information, says that finger sized ratios are associated with all kinds of predictions and little has been proved how effective these ratios will actually be.
He adds that a recently performed study makes an association between finger length ratio and prostate cancer risk, but hardly defines if the ratio can be used to actually predict the risk involved in the same.
