UID to make PDS easier- Says Nilekani
Unique Identification Authority of India (UID) announced on Tuesday that food distribution will become easier and more transparent now, since the food supply will now take place through a unique identification number system.
The project has been named 'Aadhaar' and it will work on this system to make the public distribution of food more transparent and also verify the authentication of justified price shops in the nation.
The Public Distribution system (PDS) implementations are really being looked forward to as anticipations are there that the 'Aadhaar' project will help in the identity and de-duplication process go forward.
With the use of this authentication process at fair price shops, the present day’s supplies can be made portable, which is more in demand, and moved to the fair price shops which are based only on withdrawals.
The project is further expected to increase the value of the existing system and also bring variations in the supply system. Moreover, it can also increase the worth of de-duplication and bring a change in the entire frame of the supply chain.
The ‘Aadhaar’ project is also expected to prevent any kind of leakage in the supply and the intensive use of smart cards is also expected to change the former distribution system and bring big improvements in the PDS.
