Mamata Banerjee flags of 'Commonwealth Express'
Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee has flagged of a special exhibition train named, 'Commonwealth Express' that will promote the sporting event to he hosted in the national capital Delhi in October this year.
The exhibition train will showcase information about sports and Information Technology for the people and specially youngsters. The train will make its first stop at Amritsar where the Queen's Baton will arrive on the same day.
"It will go to all states to make the people aware about the Games and also development in Information Technology," she said.
The train is expected to travel to 48 stations across the country. It has a total of 14 coaches, including five dedicated to sports and six to Information Technology. The train will complete its journey in Delhi where the exhibition will open for public on October 1 and 2 at Safdarjung Railway station.
Railway is also planning another train named Technology Express in the near future for spreading awareness about the development of technology in the country.
"The train, named Technology Express will be launched from Kharagpur (West Bengal) after the Commonwealth Games to raise awareness about information technology in remote areas and small towns," she said while flagging of the Commonwealth Express today.
