UID number gets a brand name and logo
The 16-digit unique identification (UID) number has got a new brand name and a logo as well. The unique identification number will be assigned to each individual of the country.
The Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to rename the project and now it will be known as 'AADHAR'. It will also bear a logo. The logo was unveiled at the UIDAI authority's meeting. The meeting was chaired by UIDAI Chairman Nandan Nilekani.
Nilekani has said that the brand name and the logo are extremely necessary to create an impact on the people of the country. It will make the project recognizable and also will communicate the idea behind such initiatives. Nilekani has also anticipated that this will undoubtedly enhance the confidence of the people towards the UID project.
He also said that 'AADHAR' means foundation. So such UID card will lay the foundation among the citizens of the country to claim their rights and entitlements. The logo has the halo of the Sun on the imprint of a thumb.
