RComm Inks Deal With GetJar To Offer Mobile Applications
Reliance Communications has signed a deal with the Silicon Valley-based GetJar to offer its clients more than 65,000 free mobile applications, ranging from games and shopping to sports and entertainment. RCom will provide the service at 50 paise per MB of usage, whereas the application download and use by itself will be free.
The applications will be available across GSM and CDMA networks, it said in a statement.
Anil Pande, head of VAS said, "We wanted to partner with the largest, most experienced, 'open' application catalog provider to address virtually any device being used by our customers. This partnership means that all Reliance Communications customers will instantly have access to thousands of applications ranging from games, shopping and lifestyle applications to sports, entertainment and productivity applications."
The statement added that popular applications like Facebook Mobile, Yahoo!, Fandango and eBuddy can be easily downloaded to more than 2,300 cellular phones all major platforms.
Financial details of the contract were not revealed.
India's leading mobile firms like Bharti Airtel and Reliance are rolling out online mobile applications stores, opening a new revenue stream from add-on services like music and social networking. (With Inputs from Agencies)
