Pak batsmen to struggle on NZ tour: Basit Ali

Pak batsmen to struggle on NZ tour: Basit AliIslamabad, Nov. 18 : Former Pakistan middle order batsman Basit Ali is not expecting a brilliant show from Pakistani batsmen during the forthcoming Test series in New Zealand.

According to Ali, Pakistani battling line up does not have enough players who are technically sound to tackle the pace, bounce and movement that fast bowlers would get on Kiwi wickets.

“I envisage big problems for the top order in New Zealand,” Ali told PakPassion. net.

He said Pakistani batsmen were good for T20 cricket, but they don’t have the technical specialities needed in a five-day match.

“The problem is if you look through the squad you have a number of players who are technically weak, especially against the moving delivery and in seaming conditions. A lot of the Pakistani batsmen are fine when its 20 over cricket, but put them in a 5 day match situation in difficult conditions and I fear they will be found out,” he said.

Commenting on the leadership capability of Mohammad Yousuf, Ali said he is a no match for Younus Khan when it comes to tactical moves.

“I don’t really rate Yousuf as a captain. I don’t think he is a very impressive captain and is tactically quite weak. He is certainly nowhere in the league of Younus Khan when it comes to tactics and innovation,” he said. (ANI)
