Microsoft Co-Founder undergoes treatment for Lymphoma
It has been informed by Investment firm Vulcan’s CEO Jody Allen that Paul Allen, who apart from being a billionaire investor, is also co-founder of Microsoft Corp., was tested positive for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma recently and is now undergoing chemotherapy.
Paul Allen's sister Jody Allen, who is also the CEO of his investment firm Vulcan Inc., in a memo sent to employees informed that it was early this month when the 56 year old received the diagnosis. The memo informs about a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a relatively common form of lymphoma that was diagnosed for Paul Allen.
Over 20-years ago, Allen was able to win a battle over another form of immune system cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma and he is confident to beat this one too.
Jody Allen said, “Paul is feeling OK and remains upbeat. He continues to work and he has no plans to change his role at Vulcan.”
It was in 1975 that Allen founded Microsoft with Bill Gates, a high school friend and fellow computer enthusiast.
A statement received from Bill Gates late Monday confirms that Allen still remains one of his closest friends. Mr. Gates said, “Melinda and I have Paul and his family in our thoughts and prayers. I know to him be a strong and resilient individual.”
