India's Luwang in Asian Indoor Archery meet semisKolkata, Nov 4 : Putting up a confident display, India's Maisnam Chinglensana Luwang moved into the semi-finals of the men's compound individual event of the 3rd Asian Indoor Games archery meet in Hanoi, Vietnam, Wednesday.

Luwang will clash with Reza Zamaninejad of Iran at the Haiphong Youth Gymnasium Thursday for a place in the final. Zamaninejad won one leg of the World Cup in 2007.

Other Indian archers did not measure up to the expectation and lost either in pre-quarterfinals or in quarterfinals, according to information received here.

Chinglensana moved into the last four by accounting for Chakrit Thongwattana of Thailand 117-114 in the quarters.

Abhishek Verma, who made it to the quarterfinals, lost to Mansour Kordi of Iran in the tie-breaker after a 113-113 stalemate. Kordi had 9, 9, 10 in the three tie-breaking shots, while Verma had 9, 9, 9.

Gurucharan Besra lost to Korean Kyeong Su Kim in the quarterfinals of the men's recurve individual event 113-116. Earlier, he had stopped compatriot Rajib Basumatary in the pre-quarterfinals 116-113.

The lone women recurve archer Punya Prabha Kumari fell in the quarterfinals to Sejin An of South Korea 112-115.

Sakro Besra and Vrushali Gorle too were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the women's compound event. Vrushali lost to Nguyen Tien Anh Tran of Vietnam 13-114, while Sakro was out played by Mahtab Parsamehr of Iran 108-117.(IANS)
