Hail to the chef

The razzle-dazzle of the Crystals may be past, but the excitement is far from over. While the Capital’s finest restaurants and restaurateurs have been crowned, it’s time for the artists behind the scene — the chefs — to don the golden crown.

The International Chefs’ Day & 6th Chef Awards, an all-India event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in association with the Indian Culinary Forum, the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations and HT City, will take place at a gala ceremony at The Ashok Hotel on October 30.

A jury comprising top chefs, industry professionals and mediapersons will pick the best culinary artists, male and female, across 16 categories, including the Golden Hat Chef, Lady Chef of the Year, Master Baker and Kitchen Artist awards.

For those who wish to learn a secret or two from the kitchen supremos themselves, the Gourmet Specialty Week kicks off today at Dilli Haat. Organised by PHDCCI in association with Delhi Tourism, it gives you a chance to see masters like Bakshish Dean of The Park, Chef Uno Kasaki of ai and Chef Manisha Bhasin of ITC Maurya cook up a feast.

And adding a special touch to the awards night will be a ‘Green Dinner’ that will feature organic, trendy and healthy dishes. The stage is set for a truly scintillating battle of culinary masters.
