UCO Bank, leading public-sector lender, has announced that it has posted a decent growth of 38.4% in its net profit during the second quarter ended September 2009.

The Bank's net profit figure during the quarter under review stood at Rs 207.72 crore as compared to Rs 150.09 crore in the like period last year.

The official statement informed that UCO Bank's total income surged to Rs 2,609.82 crore in the said quarter from Rs 2,187.98 crore in the year-ago period.

During the reporting period, the bank's interest income surged 19.59% to Rs 2,384.23 crore, while the interest expenditure has witnessed a growth of 17.47% at Rs 1,858.76 crore, over the previous fiscal.

For the half year ended September 2009, UCO Bank recorded a net profit of Rs 386.57 crore. Total income in the six month-period grew to Rs 5183.50, from Rs 4187.14 crore.
