I’ve grown up and lived in Delhi for as long as I can remember. Since my parents still live here, I visit the city at least twice a month.

Generalisations are no good. The city has this image, this tag that we need to shake-off. It’s completely wrong to think that everyone in the city is alike.

Delhi is a mixture of different kinds of people. We have the ‘arty’ kinds who live in the south, the ‘corporate-types’ who inhabit the central part of the city, and of course, the ‘local dudes’ who just want to pick up girls.

I have a sister and we grew up in Delhi together, so it goes without saying that I was paranoid most of the time when we were there. But why do we need to pin the whole city with the ‘rude and loud’ tag?

Every city across the world has such morons. We just need to make sure that these people don’t spoil the party for our visitors (during next year’s Commonwealth Games).

I do think that the city would be a better place if people were less aggressive; but let’s not be blind to Delhi’s positives, like its aesthetic beauty and resilience.

Besides, you can't change the city's mentality in a day. Things will change for the better. We just need to give it time.
