Tokyo stocks edge down on profit-takingTokyo  - The Tokyo market ended lower Tuesday as investors sold shares to lock in profits from the previous day's gains.

After rising more than 3 per cent Monday, the key Nikkei 225 Stock Average dipped 83.69 points, or 0.79 per cent, to 10,497.36. The broader-based Topix index was also down 5.16 points, or 0.53 per cent to 965.11.

On currency markets at noon (0300 GMT), the dollar traded at 94.00-05 yen, down from Monday's 5 pm quote of 94.95-98 yen.

The euro traded at 1.4288-93 dollars, down from late Monday's quote of 1.4297-4300 dollars, and at 134.35-40 yen, down from 135.78-82 yen. (dpa)
