Tokyo stocks up on US market's overnight riseTokyo  - Tokyo stocks ended morning trading higher on Thursday following an overnight rise on US markets rise.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average edged up by 75.19 points, or 0.74 per cent, to 10,279.19 mainly on energy-related issues after Wall Street's overnight gains were led by a rise in crude oil prices.

Crude oil futures in New York rose Wednesday with a contract for West Texas Intermediate crude ending at around 72 dollars per barrel, marking a two-month closing high.

The broader-based Topix index was also up 6.59 points, 0.7 per cent, at 949.84.

On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 94.10-15 yen, down from Wednesday's 5 pm quote of 94.28-30 yen.

The euro traded at 1.4252-57 dollars, up from late Wednesday's quote of 1.4097-99 dollars, and at 134.15-20 yen, up from 132.91-95 yen. (dpa)
