Electric cars focus of German government action plan
Berlin - German Chancellor Angela Merkel's government unveiled Wednesday an action plan aimed at having 1 million electric cars on the nation's roads by 2020.
At the centre of the plan are moves to promote research in electric cars as well as incentives to encourage the purchase of electric-powered vehicles.
The details of the incentives have not been agreed upon so far. Nevertheless, Berlin hopes to introduce the first 100,000 electric cars onto the German auto market by 2012. (dpa)
