5 security personnel killed, 4 injured in Swat suicide car bomb attack
Peshawar, Aug 15 : At least five security personnel were killed and four others including a civilian, were injured in a suicide car bomb attack at a checkpoint in Swat valley on Saturday.
"A suicide bomber blew up his vehicle near a military checkpost in Waliabad village, killing at least three soldiers," The Nation quoted a senior security official, as saying.
According to reports, the suicide attack killed two soldiers on the spot, while the injured were immediately rushed to a local hospital. Another soldier died of his injures in hospital.
Swat police chief Sajid Mohmand has confirmed the attack, and said that five people, most of them soldiers, were also wounded in the attack.
Heavy contingents of army and other paramilitary forces reached the area soon after the incident was reported, and have started a massive search operation.
Meanwhile, Chaharbagh Road has been blocked for all kind of traffic following the attack.
It was the first suicide attack in the valley after it was declared clear of militants by the government. (ANI)
