Swine-flu death toll in India reaches four
New Delhi - Two more people died of swine flu in India Sunday taking the toll from the H1N1 virus in the country to four, news reports said.
Sanjay Kokare, 45, a schoolteacher from a village near the south-western Indian city of Pune died early Sunday, while Pravin Patel, 43, an Indian resident of the United States who arrived in the western city of Ahmedabad from Atlanta on July 31, also succumbed to the disease, IANS news agency reported citing hospital officials.
On Saturday evening, a 53-year-old woman died of the flu at the Kasturba Hospital in financial hub Mumbai.
India's first fatal victim, 14-year-old schoolgirl Reeda Shaikh, died on Monday.
At least three flu-infected patients - a doctor and a pharmacist in Pune and a businessman in Mumbai - were in critical condition.
India's Health Ministry reported 71 new flu infections across the country Saturday, taking the total number of people infected by the contagious virus to 783.(dpa)
