Podgorica mayor faces charges after alleged brawl with reportersPodgorica, Montenegro  - The Mayor of the Montenegrin capital Podgorica and his son are both facing criminal charges after brawling with reporters, according to local media on Friday.

Mayor Miomir Mugosa and his son Miljan, an employee of the Montenegrin diplomatic service, allegedly attacked two reporters of the Podgorica daily Vijesti after they photographed his illegally parked car.

Prosecutors launched a probe against Miljan Mugosa, as well as one of the reporters, Mihailo Jovovic. Vijesti said they would file criminal charges against both Mugosas and the mayor's driver, who also took part in the brawl.

The reporters insist that Miljan Mugosa drew a gun during the fight, but returned it on his father's urging.

The incident erupted when Miomir Mugosa spotted the reporters taking pictures of his car, illegally parked in a downtown street. He was already in a war of words with Vijesti after they ran a pictorial on his parking habits.

The mayor denied accusations, saying he was attacked by persons "following him for days and hiding in bushes and doorways." (dpa)
