India to clash with Palestine in Nehru Cup openerIndian football team will take on Palestine in the opening match of the 14th Nehru Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi on August 19. Indian team had won the Nehru cup in 2007 after defeating Syria 1-0 in the final.

Indian team is grouped with Lebanon and Palestine in Group A. Palestine team has replaced Thailand in the tournament as the South East Asian country denied to send its national 'A' team.

Syria, Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka are placed in the Group B. All league matches will be played in a round-robin format and top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. The semifinals will be played on August 27 and 28.

The grand finale will be played on 31st August and the third place play-off will be played on August 30.
