Offering its service “icontrol” through the fixed-line networks of telecommunication companies including MTNL and BSNL – Aksh Optifibre, an IPTV operator of India, has launched the Time Shift feature for a number of famous pay channels, such as Sony, SAB and Discovery, along with free to air channels. The Aksh Optifibre’s icontrol is the first IPTV service to introduce the Time Shift feature, in India.  

The new icontrol time shift feature allows icontrol subscribers to pause, rewind and fast-forward already telecasted programmes. Using the new Time Shift feature, the viewers can pause, rewind and fast-forward the programmes of last three days, from a backend server. Controlled from the backend server, the icontrol time shift feature, unlike other DTH providers, does not require recording of programs to view them again. With the icontrol time shift feature, the viewers also do not need to programme the set-top box to record their favourite shows.

Speaking on the launch of the icontrol time shift feature, the Deputy General Manager of Aksh Optifibre, Namrata Sengupta said, “Living up to our commitment of providing world-class entertainment experiences at cost-effective prices, we have now introduced time shift features on pay channels like SONY, SAB, Discovery, etc. We want to give best and no appointment viewing experience to our subscribers and such facilities actually proves our icontrol IPTV service to be the Best in the industry with actual control.”

The Aksh Optifibre’s icontrol IPTV service is a television connection based on advanced MPEG 4- 10 technology. The icontrol IPTV service offers over 125 linear channels. The icontrol also features icontrol mall (shopping platform), Video on demand (instant movie from the vast movie gallery), A-Tube (pull advertising), Games, parental control, etc.

The Aksh Optifibre provides its icontrol IPTV services in Delhi and Mumbai via fixed-line network of MTNL and BSNL. The company is in deal with BSNL to expand its icontrol IPTV services to 20 more cities in northern India.
