Sony really did kick up a row by releasing its Playstation 2 game Hanuman: Boy Warrior, and now in the wake of growing protests from Hindu groups from all over the world, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. has decided to review the controversial video game.

In response to the communiqué from Bhavna Shinde of Forum for Hindu Awakening, Sony Electronics’ Keita Sanekata wrote, “We will review this issue, and get back to you as soon as possible.”

In its press release, the Universal Society of Hinduism, which harshly criticized Sony Corporation for releasing such a controversial video game, has reported that Sony has agreed to review the game. Rajan Zed, the society president has claimed that Sony has agreed to investigate their claims.

Earlier, the Universal Society of Hinduism had alleged Sony Corporation of demeaning and insulting the Hindu god, “Pavan Puttar Hanuman,” the son of a wind god known for his unbelievable strength and ability to fly. Zed stated that Sony denigrated Hanuman by using the Hindu god as character of a videogame. Zed said that controlling Hanuman with a joystick or mouse was insulting.

Zed, Shinde wrote to Keita Sanekata of Sony Electronics to “look into withdrawing this game and publishing an apology, so as to prevent further denigration of our Deity Sree Hanuman and intensifying of our protests..."

Likewise, many other Hindu groups criticized Sony for releasing Hanuman: Boy Warrior game and demanded apology from Sony, along with removal of the video game from the market.

Sony Corporation has responded to the demands made by the Hindu groups, and the company has announced that it is going to review its Playstation 2 game Hanuman: Boy Warrior.
