Maneka Gandhi lodges complaint against Lalu for his remarks
Badaun (UP), Apr 8 : BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the police here against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad for making derogatory remarks against her son Varun Gandhi.
In a letter to the Senior Superintendent of Police (Badaun), Maneka said: "The RJD chief Lalu Yadav has threatened to kill Varun Gandhi by crushing him with a road roller in front of crowd of thousands of people and used derogatory words."
She demanded that a complaint should be lodged against Lalu under Sections 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and arrested immediately.
On Tuesday, Lalu sought to clarify his controversial statement, saying it was taken out of context.
"What I meant was crushing him under the roller of the law had I been the Home Minister," said Lalu.
Addressing an election meeting in Bihar''s Kishanganj on Monday, Lalu had said, "Had I been the country''s Home Minister, I would have crushed Varun Gandhi under a roller and destroyed him without caring for the consequences of his hate speech against Muslims".
Later, the Kishanganj District administration filed a complaint against Lalu for violation of the People''s Representation Act. (ANI)
