KKR Team & Skipper To Be Announced In SA
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has decided to declare their skipper and team for the upcoming second season of IPL in South Africa instead of India.
After the conclusion of a six-day training camp at the Eden Gardens, KKR CEO, Joy Bhattacharya said declined to declare the team and the skippers saying that they want to keep all alternatives open before they begin their IPL campaign in South Africa. “I don't want to disclose the names of the players who would be going to South Africa now as we want to keep all options open”, said Bhattacharya.
However, experts do believe that the team think tanks are yet to sort out their differences with former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly.
Moreover, there is still a lot of confusion over the number of players the team will be taking to South Africa. While team coach John Buchanan told media persons that it would be a 24-member squad, teams CEO said the whole squad of 29, including late inclusion Sanjay Bangar, who played for Deccan Chargers last season, might be selected.
It can be recalled that the whole controversy started last week when Buchanan unveiled his plan for several skippers, thus forcing out Ganguly from lone captaincy. The former Aussie coach named Brendon McCullum, Chris Gayle, Brad Hodge and Ganguly as the four skippers for the team for IPL Season 2.
The IPL Season 2 is all set to start with a bang in South Africa from April 10 next month.
