Washington, Mar. 30 : The United States has said that drone strikes on Taliban and Al-Qaeda hideouts inside Pakistan would be carried out only after consulting Islamabad.

President, Barack Obama, in a television interview, said missile hits against terror camps would continue in the future also.

"I haven't changed my approach. If we have a high-value target within our sights, after consulting with Pakistan, we're going after them," The Daily Times quoted Obama, as saying.

Obama denied sending troops inside Pakistan to wipe out the terror safe havens there.

"No, our plan does not change the recognition of Pakistan as a sovereign government," he said.

Referring to US aid to Pakistan, Obama said: "We have to hold them much more accountable."

He highlighted that both countries must join hands to thwart extremism in the region.

Obama said there is a feeling creeping among Pakistanis that the `War on Terror' is only related to the US.

"What we want to do is say to the Pakistani people, you are our friends, you are our allies. We are going to give you the tools to defeat Al Qaeda," he added.

Obama also charged the Bush administration for diverting resources from the War on Terror against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan to Iraq.

"We are going to make sure that they cannot attack US citizens, US soil, US interests, and our allies' interests around the world," Obama asserted. (ANI)
