SIC Fined Two Govt Officials For Violating RTI Act
The State Information Commission (SIC) on Wednesday fined two government officials for violating the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The two violated the Act include an executive engineer of electricity supply division in Saharsa district, and secretary of Vishunpur Panchayat in Madhubani district.
Both the erring executives failed to respond to the applications lodged in quest of information under RTI Act.
The SIC imposed a fine at the rate of Rs 250 on a daily basis with upper limit of fine being Rs 25,000 in both these cases.
The officials were directed to give information to the applicants by May 11.
The cases will be heard on May 18, 2009.
