Big B Not To Celebrate Holi This Year!
Still smarting from the terrorist attacks in Mumbai on 26/11, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, in his recent blog, said that he will not celebrate ‘Holi’ this year.
In his message, the actor also said that Bachchan’s Holi party, which is usually a grand affair, will not be celebrated this year.
Bachchan Senior also went on to write on his blog, “Holi, the festival of colour and rejoicing and music and dance is around the corner. It was one festival that we enjoyed liberally. The gates of the house open to all and the celebrations lasting till late in the evening from the morning. We have not done that for several years.”
“This year too Holi will be given a miss. That joyous spirit has been dampened by the atrocities that our city faced on 26/11. In its wake somewhere inside us there is a reluctance to involve ourselves in any kind of exhibition. Professional work is understandable, but private excesses do not find favour in our hearts. And so shall we respect that,” Big B added.
Big B, whose song ‘Rang barse’ from ‘Silsila’ is still a hot favorite during the Holi season, stated that he is doing the right thing.
"It is the right thing to do. It would have been recommended by the elders too, in who's memory we have often refrained from such activity," he said.
During Holi, Abhishek and Aishwarya Aishwarya are both likely to remain in Kolkata shooting for Mani Ratnam's Ravana.
Moreover showman Subash Ghai, Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan are also giving the festival a miss following the terror attacks.
Despite all this, some ‘Holi’ celebrations are still on.
Shabana Azmi and her hubby Javed Akhtar hosted the biggest bash in the fraternity for Holi.
When asked regarding his take on putting Holi on hold, Akhtar answered, “We all are very sad and angry… but that does not mean we should give terrorists the itinerary to decide events.”
Leggy lass Shilpa Shetty is also hosting a pre-Holi bash for her Rajasthan IPL team in Mumbai.
Mukesh Bhatt will be holding a small party in honor of his new movie Jashn, as is Anurag Kashyap who is celebrating on the brink of Gulaal's release.
