One cop set on fire, two beaten up by irate mob
Two separate incidents of crime against policemen were reported in state on Tuesday. In the first incident one constable of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary was set on fire while in another two others were badly beaten up by an accused of a dacoity case, the police said. According to police sources, four youth were having a scuffle with some local shopkeepers at the Chomu bus stand, at around 9 pm on, Monday night. The victim Dana Ram, a constable with the RAC who was posted in the area, intervened and disperse the youth.
Later these youth barged into the dharmshala where the constable was sleeping and took him out, poured kerosene on him and set him on fire. They then fled from the scene, SP (Rural), Anand Srivastav, told DNA. The constable had sustained 25% burn injuries, the SP said.
In another incident, two policemen were beaten up by locals while they had gone to Gudhamode village in Jhunjhunu to arrest one Irdees Khan booked in a dacoity case.
“As the two policemen entered the village the accused and his supporters beat them up,” said sources.
