Tripura’s Sourabhee Debbarma Wins Sony TV’s Indian Idol 4!
After Prashant Tamang, multi-talented Sourabhee Debbarma, who hails
from Tripura, has won the Sony TV’s reality singing contest ‘Indian
Idol 4’ after defeating the other two finalists Kapil Thapa (second)
and Torsha Sarkar (third) at an event held at Mumbai, on Sunday night
(March 1).
Sourabhee impressed the jury members and the viewers through her power-pack performances, and got the highest votes.
The winners were chosen through viewers’ poll.
After winning the show, an elated Sourabhee said, “It is unbelievable that I have won.”
She added that she will continue to amuse people in the same spirit that helped her win a vast fan following.
The 22-year-old winner has had no professional training in music.
Bollywood stars John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif were
the special guests at the grand finale. They had come to promote their
upcoming movie “New York”.
Amidst much pomp and grandeur, the actors declared ‘Sourabhee Debbarma’ as the winner of the fourth season of Indian Idol.
Sourabhee, who becomes first female ‘Indian Idol’, has been presented a
Rs 1-crore music contract with Sony TV, the Indian Idol 4 title &
trophy and a Tata ‘Winger’ Car.
The reality music show, which started in 2008, has been judged by the
best talents in the Bollywood industry including Javed Akhtar, Anu
Malik, Kailash Kher and Sonali Bendre and hosted by Hussain and Meiyang
Chang.
Moreover, the show has seen many Bollywood glitterati that include Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and many others.
