Braj areas should be developed: NGO
Claiming a success in influencing the Rajasthan government to ban all kinds of mining operations in the spiritually and culturally significant Deeg and Kaman tehsils of Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, the Braj Foundation, an NGO , has demanded a master plan for the Rajasthan part of Braj region.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Friday, the chief executive officer of the foundation and senior journalist Vineet Narain, advocating on the need of developing these regions in Rajasthan said, "Our foundation played a vital role in ensuring ban on mining in Rajasthan portion (Kaman and Deeg) of Bharatpur district. That is just the beginning."
"There is a serious need of the preparation of a comprehensive tourism master plan for the entire region so that the economic fall-outs can be mitigated through enhanced tourism activities and the ravaged hill territories can be restored back to their pristine glory and grandeur," Narain said.
"Braj region of Rajasthan has immense potential in terms of tourism as there are tourist spots like Keoladeo National Park at Bharatpur and the Sariska Tiger Reserve at Alwar," he added.
He also said that since illegal mining in the area has ended, the Rajasthan government should develop the region, which used to be so beautiful in the past.
"We met the Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and urged on the need of developing the Rajasthan part of Braj region as the Uttar Pradesh part including Vrindawan and Mathura are already undergoing development," he said.
Asked about the success story of Uttar Pradesh, he said, "We had prepared a comprehensive tourism master plan for the Uttar Pradesh part of Braj region, which was duly approved by the government of Uttar Pradesh."
