Adnan Sami Wins Property Case Against Wife
Pakistani singer Adnan Sami has won the property case against his wife, Sabah Galadri.
Sabah pleaded in the court that Adnan together with his parents should be evicted from their five-flat residence at Lokhandwala in Andheri.
But, the petition has been dismissed by the Mumbai High Court.
Adnan’s lawyer Vibhav Krishna said, “The HC order clarified that the family court has jurisdiction over matrimonial disputes involving foreign nationals.”
The singer said that he will sort the matter out with her in whichever court she files a case. He is firm about fighting the legal battle right to the finish.
On this, Adnan said, “It has been a traumatic time for me, what with my father lying critically ill in the same house that my wife wanted me out of. I was determined to have my parents stay in my house. Now the honourable court has dismissed my wife's plea to have us out. The honourable judge said this case belongs to the courts dealing with domestic cases, not the High Court. If Sabah decides to appeal I'm ready to give her a long and gruelling battle ahead. I'm a lawyer, remember?”
Sabah, who got married to Adnan in April 2007, has already filed for divorce.
Adnan is from Pakistan, while Sabah, a UAE national. But, their marriage was registered in Mumbai, where the pair has been living.
The problem started last month when Sabah filed a non-cognisable offence against Adnan at the Oshiwara police station on the grounds of ‘mental and physical torture’.
At that time, Adnan was summoned to the police station and warned against misbehaving with his wife in future.
Earlier, Adnan said that Sabah never wanted his parents staying in their house.
He said, “She wanted to take away my home and dog. If she had her way she'd snatch away my father as well. When my frail father heard that the High Court had ruled in my favour, he opened his eyes, smiled and closed them again. That smile is all the vindication I needed.”
