Miandad denies having differences with PCB Chairman Butt
Islamabad, Feb. 13: Sacked Director General of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Javed Miandad has refuted reports of him having differences with Board Chairman Ijaz Butt, saying he wanted to serve Pakistan cricket and help regain its lost glory.
Miandad also denied that there was a financial issue behind his removal from the post, saying he is ready to serve to uplift the standard of the game in the country, free of cost.
"I wish to complete my assignment which would be given to me by the PCB aiming to boost the standard of the game," The Nation quoted Miandad, as saying.
When enquired about the recent lacklusture performance of the Pakistan cricket team, he said the squad has the ability to defeat top teams of the World, but needs some fine tuning.
He expressed hope that Pakistan will put-up an improved show in the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka under the leadership of Younis Khan.
"The Test series against Sri Lanka will be tough for them and have to toil hard to overcome heavyweights. Younis Khan is a good choice and will bring positive results," Miandad said. (ANI)
