BHEL pockets various orders worth Rs 7000 Crore

Bharat Heavy Electricals LtdPublic sector equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has notified that it has received four contracts worth Rs 7,000 crore from various producers, to supply and set up electrical equipment for thermal power projects.

The contracts have been awarded to BHEL by India's power utility NTPC, NLC Tamil Nadu Power Ltd (NTPL) and Mahagenco.

The company has picked first order from NTPC for steam generator packages for the 2x500 MW Super Thermal Power Project to be made each in Madhya Pradesh (Vindhyachal) and Uttar Pradesh (Rihand). The orders envisage design, engineering, manufacture, supply and erection and commissioning of Steam Generators and ESPs along with Associated Auxiliaries.

While, NTPL has placed second order for setting up 2x500 MW thermal power plants in Tamil Nadu (Tuticorin), which is expected to add 24 million units every day to the grid on commissioning.

BHEL's scope of work in this contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the main plant package comprising Turbine Generators, Steam Generators with ESPs & Associated Auxiliaries and Electricals, besides state-of-the-art Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) and complete civil works.

The company secured last order from Mahagenco, which envisages setting up of the Parli TPP Stage-III (1x250 MW) in Maharashtra. The scope of contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the main plant package.

Shares of the company gained Rs 27, or 2%, to settle at Rs 1393. The total volume of shares traded was 248,250 at the BSE. (Monday). While, today Sensex shut shop at 9583, up 283 points and Nifty at 2919, up 76 points from the previous close.
