Sri Lanka helped by Dilshan’s ton to a big total

Sri Lanka helped by Dilshan’s ton to a big totalThe final day-night international against Pakistan on Saturday saw Sri Lanka making 309 for 5 wickets with the help of makeshift opener Tillakaratne Dilshan, who struck a career-best hundred.

Dilshan, who is 32-years-old, impressed the onlookers when he made 132 runs for his second one-day hundred and shared in three important partnerships. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat on a docile Gaddafi Stadium pitch.

It should be noted that the three-match series is at level score of 1-1. The first match was won by Pakistan by eight wickets. On the other hand Sri Lanka won the second by
129 runs. Both the matches were played in Karachi.

Following Dilshan's twin hundreds in a Test against Bangladesh earlier this month, the sportsman who was included in the one-day squad hit 10 boundaries during his
139-ball knock and set the tempo with a 76-run first-wicket stand with Sanath Jayasuriya (45).

Dilshan and Jayasuriya, both were dropped inside the first 10 overs. During this period of time, Umar Gul and Sohail Khan bowled to tight line and length.

Finally, Jayasuriya was finally caught off a miscued pull off Gul, who finished with 3 wickets for 45 runs.

However, the innings were consolidated by Dilshan who in a second-wicket stood of 104 with Kumar Sangakkara (50) and put on 57 for the third wicket with Thilina Kandamby (32) as Pakistan worked hard for wickets.

The man arrived at his hundred with a single off spinner Saeed Ajmal, off 119-balls with four boundaries.
