Barack Obama sworn as 44th US president, first black
Washington - Barack Obama was sworn into office Tuesday as the 44th US president by US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts before a record crowd of more than 1 million people.
Obama, the first African-American US president, took the oath on a Bible used in 1861 by president Abraham Lincoln, the 19th Century Civil War president who freed the slaves. (dpa)
