Islamabad, Jan. 20 : It is highly unlikely that the Australian cricket team will tour Pakistan amidst the precarious security conditions in the country, a top official of the Pakistan Cricket Board believes.

"I don't think that Australia will agree to play the series in Pakistan because they have security apprehensions," Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt said.

Cricket Australia (CA) has already conveyed their apprehensions to the PCB, after the Australian foreign office had informed them that cricketers could be targeted in Pakistan.

The PCB has, however, made it clear that it is ready to host the kangaroos on any neutral venue as well, if they refuse to come to Pakistan.

Butt said that he will attend the ICC executive board meeting in Perth to be held from January 31 to February 2, and discuss the possible options about the tour with the Cricket Australia officials.

"We will discuss all options in Perth and if need be we will host the series at some neutral venue," the News quoted Butt, as saying.

He added that PCB is already considering three neutral venues in UAE, England and Malaysia for the proposed series.

"England, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Malaysia were being considered to host the five ODIs and a Twenty20 match, starting on April 23," Butt said.

However, PCB officials said that the idea of playing matches in England has been ruled out as they (England) have a busy schedule during the time.

Australia is scheduled to tour Pakistan for a test and one-day international series after they postponed their tour last year due to security concerns. They however, had agreed to compensate for the cancellation by visiting Pakistan twice in 2009 and 2010. (ANI)
