Medvedev proposes Saturday summit of gas-consuming nations
Moscow- President Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday invited all countries importing Russian gas to hold an emergency summit in Moscow, the Kremlin said Wednesday.
Medvedev proposed the summit for January 17 in meetings with the prime ministers of Bulgaria, Moldova and Slovakia - whose countries are suffering most severely from a Russian gas embargo on transits via Ukraine.
Russia cut all deliveries of gas through Ukraine last Wednesday, accusing it of stealing Europe's supplies, 80 per cent of which are pumped via Ukrainian pipelines. dpa
