Ribery making no promises on contract
Dubai - France midfielder Franck Ribery said Thursday he could not pledge to stay at Bayern Munich until the end of his contract in 2011.
"I have a four-year contract. But promise that I will fulfil it? That is difficult. You never know what will happen in football," he said at the team's training camp in Dubai.
Ribery, 25, has been in outstanding form for Bayern since moving to the Bundesliga club from Olympique Marseille for 25 million euros (34 million dollars) in summer 2007.
Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has indicated he would like to seek early talks with Ribery on a contract extension.
Ribery, who has called recently for the club to strengthen its squad, said he felt "very happy" at Bayern but was "open for everything."
He welcomed the arrival of Croatian Ivica Olic from next season, saying the current SV Hamburg striker was "a hungry player who gives everything and scores goals."
"The important thing is that the club is aware that it has to strengthen. We can do with a good man everywhere. It's good for the quality," he said.
Ribery meanwhile rates only Barcelona stronger in the race for the Champions League crown this season.
"Barcelona are above everyone. But we are on a level with every other club," he said. (dpa)
