‘Nexus One’ under scanner for its name

‘Nexus One’ under scanner for its nameGoogle’s problem child Nexus One continues to draw newer troubles. This time it’s about the smartphone’s name. As per reports, the name has a patent registered in favor of Integra Telecom.

Reports confirmed from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) that the authority has rebuffed Google's trademark application for ‘Nexus One’ stating that the rights have already been taken by Portland, Oregon-based Integra Telecom. It further stated that the telecommunications company registered ‘Nexus One’ two years ago and currently is using it for its own telecom services.

With Google looking in no mood to compromise, a company spokesperson said, “We continue to claim rights to the Nexus One trademark in the United States, and plan to respond to the office action from the United States Patent Trademark Office.”

Integra on the other side is ready to negotiate and find a mid-way to end this brawl.
