Next BJP chief from outside Delhi: RSS
Even as he claimed that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) did not interfere in the BJP’s functioning, RSS Sarsanghchalak (chief) Mohan Rao Bhagwat gave ample indications on Friday that someone from outside Delhi could be catapulted as the next president of India’s second largest party.
The term of present BJP president Rajnath Singh will end in December.
“Yes, the new leadership will be someone other than these four (Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar). This is what I have been told. That is what has been agreed on and I believe the process has begun,” he told Aaj Tak. “They will get someone from outside Delhi.”
He, however, insisted that the developments were taking place within the BJP without any RSS involvement.
“The RSS never intervenes, only gives advice when asked,” he said.
There has been a buzz that the RSS wants someone from outside Delhi, like former Goa CM Manohar Parikkar or Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari, to head the party.
