According to a study published by mobile analytics firm Flurry, the US market has a strong base of 109 million smartphone users, making it a leading player in the world. It also found that China has 35 million active users ahead of the UK with 17 million users, followed by Japan, France and Germany, each with 10 million users. It is believed that China has 122 million potential smartphone buyers.

Flurry tracked its data-set of more than 140,000 apps to determine the number of iOS and Android users through app launches in 30 days. The firm agreed that as it has counted the active users on the bases of activity in 30 days only, its total number is half of what is claimed by Apple and Google for their platforms.
