NDA asks UPA to prove majority within a week
Mumbai,New Delhi, July 9 : The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance met at opposition leader L K Advani’s residence on Wednesday, and demanded that the UPA Government should be asked to prove its majority within a week.
The NDA decided to approach President Pratibha Patil in case the trust vote doesn’t take place soon. It also demanded that a special session of Parliament be convened at the earliest.
Earlier, the BJP alleged the timing of Left parties'''' withdrawal of support to the government was “suspicious” as they waited till the Congress clinched a deal with the Samajwadi Party to save the ruling dispensation.
“The timing is suspicious. Were they waiting for the Samajwadi Party to cosy up with the Congress? One thing is sure that the Left were waiting for an opportune time, so that the government does not fall,” BJP spokesperson Rajeev Pratap Rudy told reporters here.
The BJP alleged that the Left has facilitated a “private deal” between the SP and the Congress.
“The private deal between the SP and the Congress needs to be made clear by the government. It is managed more or less by the Left parties who are the patrons of UNPA,” the BJP said. (ANI)
