Two ruling BJP leaders were shot dead by naxalites when they were attending an election meeting at Badre Gudra village in Dantewada district.

The leaders were identified as Dantewada BJP district Vice-President Ramesh Rathore and BJP Kuakunda Block Divisional President Surya Prakash.

Naxalites have also destroyed the vehicle in which the BJP leaders had traveled.

This is seen as a major pre-poll violence by naxals.

Dantewada is the worst naxal affected district in the country.
