Nawaz Sharif not to support PPP if Musharraf not impeached
Lahore, May 31 : PML-N leader and former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif has said that his party won’t support the PPP on any issue, if the latter didn’t pay heed to its demand of impeaching President Pervez Musharraf.
Nawaz said that Musharraf’s impeachment was the demand of the nation.
Nawaz said this while talking to reporters after a meeting of the party’s 32-member central and provincial parliamentary board at his Model Town residence, reported the Daily Times.
The PML-N leader said the petition lodged against his candidature for by-elections was “fabricated” and that the tribunal had no more role or constitutional jurisdiction on the issue.
PML-N would abide by the understanding reached with the PPP that the two parties would not contest candidates against each other, the paper quoted him as saying.
Nawaz also maintained that the restoration of judges sacked by Musharraf last year was the PML-N’s top priority.
Regarding rumours of Musharraf leaving the presidency, he said that any such change would be “highly welcomed”. (ANI)
