Navy football champs honored by Obama
The White House has said that U. S. President Barack Obama honored military football teams on Monday, speaking at the Commander in Chief's Trophy presentation.
It was reported that the trophy is awarded to each season's winner of a football series for teams of the U. S. Military Academy, the U. S. Naval Academy and the U. S. Air Force Academy. This year, Navy took two games, 16-13 over Air Force and 17-3 over Army and Air Force beat Army 35-7.
Obama said at the White House, "The Army/Navy game isn't just one of the biggest rivalries in college football -- it's one of the biggest rivalries in sports, period."
"I want you to know that I have no greater honor, and no greater responsibility, than serving as your commander in chief. And I promise you that this country will stand with you, from the moment you put on the uniform to the moment you take it off, as you devote your lives to freedom's cause."
The White House daily schedule said that in the evening, Obama will host a dinner for the Business Council. (With Inputs from Agencies)
