Nasal Spray to cure meningitis

Nasal-SprayThe recent advent of nasal spray vaccine, offers cure for meningitis and pneumonia.

The research team, led by Dr Qibo Zhang, from the University of Liverpool, states that kids can benefit a lot from this spray as it helps combat the bacteria pneumococcus.

The vaccine is known to comprise of a substance called D4Ply, which forms a part of protein produced by nearly all the different types of pneumococcus. The experiments done on the same provide protection against most of the strains.

The scientists believe that vaccine has been priced much cheaper in case and shall offer support for cells taken from the adenoids of 30 youngsters under five.

Zhang adds: "Current vaccines are complex and expensive to produce, they do not protect against all of the 90 or so different types of this bacterium and they are not all effective in very young children. Better vaccines are needed."
