Nano Making Its Way on Overseas MarketRenowned automobile company, Tata Motors is looking forward to establish assembly operations for its small car Nano, outside the country including ASEAN region and Latin America.

Consequently, the company has started the exports of completely built units (CBU) of the Nano to neighboring countries such as Sri Lanka and Nepal with a focus on assembling the Nano abroad with the help of export of completely knocked down units (CKD).

"There are many important markets for the Nano, like the SAARC countries, ASEAN nations and Latin American region. So we are studying those markets”, added Tata Motors Managing Director, India Operations, P M Telang. "Looking at the potential, we can think of the CBU route at first and later we may think of CKD operations... At present we are considering many countries for CKD for Nano but there is no timeline”.

Mr. Telang made the statement during an interview while answering a question seeking explanation about company’s planning to set up manufacturing plants overseas for Nano.

Earlier, in April, the Managing Director of Tata Industries, Kishore A Chaukar, stated that the company was at a very high stage of finalizing a production site for its small car Nano at an overseas location.
