Myanmar authorities arrest 20 Aung San Suu Kyi supporters
Yangon - Myanmar security personnel on Tuesday arrested 20 supporters of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi as they marched to her compound in Yangon to protest her five years of detention, eyewitnesses said.
The arrestees, all members of the opposition party National League for Democracy (NLD) that is headed by Suu Kyi, were arrested and taken away in two vehicles before they could reach Suu Kyi's Yangon home.
Suu Kyi, a Nobel peace prize laureate, has been under house arrest since May 30, 2003. Authorities were expected to extend her detention on Tuesday. (dpa)
