Islamabad, May 2: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has reportedly agreed to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) plan to do away with Article 58 (2) B, which empowers him to dissolve the National Assembly.

Legal aides of Musharraf are giving final touches to a bill to indemnify the suspended Constitutional rule passed on November 3, 2007, The Nation reported.

According to sources, the bill, which has been drafted in consultation with the Law and Justice Minister Farooq H Naek and Attorney General Malik Abdul Qayyum, is expected to be brought before the National Assembly this month.

Some foreign powers including the US, UK and Saudi Arabia have been taken into confidence on the move to promote national reconciliation to stabilize parliamentary democracy in the country.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has also reportedly agreed to support the proposed bill, provided the sacked judges are restored first.

The bill will be part of a comprehensive Constitutional package that PPP co- chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had discussed with PML (N) chief Nawaz Sharif in Dubai. (ANI)
