Mumbai terror attack charge-sheet to be filed soon: Chidambaram
New Delhi, Feb 17 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said that Maharashtra Police has completed its investigations into the Mumbai terror attacks and a charge-sheet will be filed soon.
"The police investigation has been completed and the charge-sheets will be filed soon," Chidambaram said while replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha.
The Minister rejected suggestions to refer the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
"It would not take up investigation in the Mumbai terror attacks case probe as the probe was `almost complete'. It could be entrusted with any investigation, if need to be," he said.
NIA was set up in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks, under the administrative control of the Home Ministry.
Chidambaram informed that the Director General of the NIA has been appointed and process is on to appoint other members and staff.
The Minister said, if any serious case while tackling the Naxal menace in the country comes to surface, the service of NIA could be used. (ANI)
