Mumbai’s 2nd Biggest Pvt Hospital Inaugurated
A 730-bedded private hospital having more than 100 outpatient sections has been opened in the posh Four Bungalows area of Andheri, a north-west suburb.
Named Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, the spanking new hospital was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Monday.
The new tertiary care hospital, which was dedicated to Kokilaben, wife of late Dhirubhai Ambani, has 115 intensive care units, which includes paediatric and neo-natal, as well as centres for bone and joint, brain and nervous system, cancer, cardiac sciences, children and rehabilitation.
The 17-storeyed building covered over 10 lakh square feet has two basements, a health saloon, a medical mall, patient research centre and a clinical research division with medical services available for 24 hours.
In addition to all facilities, more than 140 experienced doctors, 1,000 nurses and about 200 paramedics from various hospitals in Mumbai and from across the world are attached to the hospital.
Himanshu Modi, a medical doctor, stated that KDAH would be advantageous to numerous patients residing the western suburbs who were compelled to search for better and high-quality health care either at Lilavati or AHI, or go all the way to south Mumbai to hospitals such as Jaslok Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital, Hinduja Hospital or Saifee Hospital.
He explained, “The KDAH will not only help save time for patients travelling from far flung places in the suburbs, but also enable quicker treatment without a waiting list as is prevalent in some of the other big hospitals.”
Chairperson of the hospital Mrs. Tina Ambani said that they had created not just a structure, but an organic identity that will offer up state-of-the-art services at reasonable rates.
Mr. Chavan said that the city (Mumbai) was in great need of a super-specialty hospital like this.
Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh were also present on the occasion.
